I distinctly remembered the passage from The Great Gatsby describing Daisy and Jordan in their white dresses on the couch. I thought that it was very poetic how Fitzgerald described them as being anchored to a balloon and blowing around the house. When I saw this dress, it looked to me like something that Daisy would have been wearing. She seems to me like the type of person who would just wear an evening dress around the house during the day.
